[Steven seems to be enjoying himself. He has the camera angled down towards his Cleffa, who's rubbing up against his leg, ears twitching.] W-Whoa, now, stay still, okay? I wanna take a picture to send back to the Gems. You're pretty photogenic! You should be a model. I could be your agent!

Okay now, c'mere -- oof! [Steven reaches down to try and scoop the Cleffa up in one hand, jiggling the camera as the Pokemon wriggles in his hold. He flips the view around so that Steven's face is in shot, and he's grinning wide over the big brown ears of his Pokemon.] Whooaa. Heh heh. I'm on camera!

Ok, Steven, you gotta play it cool. You're practically in a movie.

AHEM.

[Steven grins.] Hi! I'm Steven Universe! I don't know where I am! [Nailed it.] I mean, I AM a Crystal Gem, so I can DEFINITELY take care of myself, buuuut.

[Steven frowns a little, glances around him.] Theeeere's not a single thing here that seems familiar! It's like I'm on a whole different planet! And the Gems are going to get pretty worried if I don't come back soon.

...but at least I've got this little guy here to keep me company! Isn't that right? [Steven turns to the Cleffa, gives her a little poke.] Do YOU know where we are?

[She makes a few noncommittal noises, nuzzles up again his chin. Steven beams.] She loves me.

[The camera jiggles again as Steven flops down on the grass, plops the Cleffa in his lap.] Hehe. You can be my second best friend. That way Lion won't get jealous.

But maybe we should get back to the temple first. Right? [Steven nods, off camera, mostly to himself.] Right.

Anyway, I guess I should stop recording now. I hope the Gems can see this so that they can come here and have fun with me, too! Okay, bye.

[Have another kid looking scruffy and slightly confused, Steven. Because either there's some SERIOUS language differences going on here, or you are WAY too calm about suddenly being human.]

Oh, haha, I'm only half gem. I'm half human, too! I inherited the squishy-ness from my dad.

Are you saying that you're not human, too? [Steven seems intrigued.] W-What happens to people that aren't humans?

[Yeah, he understood maybe half of that. The words all make sense individually, but putting them together just makes it all weird. His knowledge of human reproduction is ridiculously limited, but he's PRETTY SURE you can't be half rock.]

Y'turn human when you show up in that crazy chick's house. This place seems t'really hate people who aren't the local monsters bein' able to do anything FUN.

[Fortunately, it's also a chance to whine about Johto and being human, so Impmon can forgive the confusion about crystals and gems and only being half human.]

And NO, I'm NOT human. Least not 'til I showed up here. I'm what they call a Digimon, not that anyone here seems t'know what that is.

So, wait...that means I'm entirely human now, too? Just like my dad? And Connie? And everyone else in Beach City? [Steven...isn't sure how to handle this information. Will the Gems still let him go on missions if he's human??]

A Digimon! That seems really cool. [Steven beams.] What do Digimon do?

[Still not really getting the whole 'half-rock' thing, especially if Steven didn't notice the human thing on his own by now.]

[Saying Digimon sound cool, though? That's the proper response. You may be crazy, Steven, but Impmon thinks you've got pretty sharp taste.]

Ha! What CAN'T we do is more like it! Tossin' fireballs, throwin' blizzards, saving the whole damn world- If I weren't stuck in this body I'd show ya myself.

[Steven has a sudden, urgent thought, and proceeds to lift up the hem of his shirt.

He lets out a loud wail.]

M-My Gem is gone!

[SORRY MAN, Steven is too distressed to pay much attention to your cool animal powers now.]

[Oh god, panicking child. He is absolutely the worst person to deal with this.]

Hey! Uh- try t'relax! Maybe it's just in that backpack they give ev'ryone?!

[STEVEN IS SO UPSET. He's already tearing up.]

[Oh god please not with the crying. This is not something he'll be able to NOT make worse, he knows it.]

B-But if I don't have my Gem, I can't be a Crystal Gem anymore! I don't have any of my special powers and I can't go on missions and I can't hang out with the gems anymore!
